My first pick-up! I’m ridiculously excited. I introduce myself to the farmer (the person I’ve emailed no less – I think this is a pretty small operation) and he explains that a full-share gets 10 vegetables (I wonder if that is all season or just during the early harvest) then proceeds to grab veggies from the display and tell me what they were. Luckily I am familiar with most of them, unfortunately I already forgot one thing by the time I get home and take the picture.
Top row (left to right): mustard greens, kale, kohlrabi
Middle row: radishes, lettuce, swiss chard, some unknown cabbage
Bottom row: arugula, cilantro, mint
Of course since the July 4th holiday is coming up I grab some other things at the market as well. Cherries for a fresh cherry tart that I plan on bringing to the 4th gathering we are going attending, raspberries just because, then I spy a bunch of parsley and think “tabbouleh would be great” so I buy the parsley, cucumbers and tomatoes too. I went a little crazy and it took some creative manuevering to fit everything in the fridge.
